This bayside home is designed around a courtyard-driven layout that responds to its northern frontage, creating a home filled with light and natural connectivity. A side entry adjacent to the courtyard enhances the layered spatial sequence, strengthening the visual and physical connection between indoors and out.

Functionality and entertaining were central to the design, with open, flowing spaces that allow the home to adapt seamlessly from everyday family living to larger gatherings. The facade is carefully composed to frame uninterrupted views of the bay, bringing the beauty of the surroundings into the home.

This home is thoughtfully embedded within the Mornington Peninsula landscape. Two distinct wings extend from a central living pavilion, a design that balances privacy with connection. Adaptable by nature, the home seamlessly shifts between everyday living and extended family gatherings, with an integrated carport offering flexibility as both parking and outdoor recreation space.

This project stands out in its streetscape with its contrasting dark and concrete tones. A dominant feature of this home is the raised ceiling and highlight windows in the rear living area, creating a striking visual as you move through the home’s main thoroughfare. Internally, diverse palette of materials and colours brings vibrance and energy to the spaces, a direct reflection of the clients and their passion for creating their dream home.

This expansive single-storey home was shaped by the challenge of a northern orientation to the street — a condition that typically compromises privacy while limiting opportunities to draw in natural light. The design response was to introduce a central courtyard, allowing natural light to flood the interiors while creating a private, inward-looking focus for the home.

The plan is anchored by two distinct wings: the master suite and a children’s wing comprising two bedrooms, a guest room and an activity space. Dual living zones extend to the courtyard, encouraging connection while maintaining flexibility for family life. An oversized secondary garage further enhances functionality, with every element thoughtfully resolved to reflect the client’s needs.

Balancing privacy with openness, and functionality with refined design, the home is a tailored response that captures light and liveability in equal measure.
