From the outset, the facade sets a refined tone. Clean architectural lines are elevated through a sophisticated palette of natural travertine tiling, textured neutral render and feature cladding, offering warmth, contrast and architectural depth. A timber panelled front door with a grey tundra stone handle makes for a subtle yet sculptural entry, signalling the considered materiality within.

Inside, every space has been meticulously crafted to reflect the lifestyle and aesthetic of its owners. Light-filled and layered with texture, the interior language moves seamlessly from softness to structure. A gallery-style hallway, punctuated by creamy herringbone flooring and curated artwork, offers a quiet rhythm to the home’s journey. Nestled within a tree-lined street of Camberwell, Thomas Archer’s Lynden House stands proud with its bold architectural facade commanding immediate street presence. Combining a mixture of tactile materials such as aerated concrete, timber cladding and counter levered design, this home imbues a striking look that is both modern and timeless.

The strong sense of character is carried throughout the home with feature panelling adorning the entrance wall which is enhanced by the floor to ceiling windows and staircase void that amplify an abundance of light that continues all the way through to the open plan kitchen dining and living.

Crafting the floorplan to ensure a strong connection to the outdoors, with windows perfectly framing the stunning landscaped surrounds, has created a feeling of living amongst the garden with nature’s beauty always within reach – a hallmark feature of Thomas Archer homes.

Our elegant and serene Camberwell residence is a perfect example of a home that is distinctly yours, in every sense. Our clients were looking to design a family home that maximised their north-facing aspect to introduce open, illuminated spaces and radiated a sense of welcome as soon as you stepped through the doors.

A wall of gallery windows enhanced this effect, guiding you through the home to a sunlit-bathed living and dining area that opens out to the outdoors to extend the entertaining space. The kitchen is deceptively simple in its design. Subtle details such as an abundance of hidden storage, reflective surfaces that illuminate the space with light from the oversized windows and minimalistic finishes to compliment the polished cement flooring, effortlessly combine to create an elegant kitchen space that exudes style.

HIA Victorian Project Home $500,000 to $750,000

Our idyllic Coburg Residence is a perfect example of how our Expressions Series of homes can be customised to suit a varying range of block sizes and lifestyles. Our client loved the airy flow of the Allure floor plan and challenged us to modify this design to suit their block without losing the architectural intent of the original design’s layout and features.

Taking the narrow frontage into consideration, the design team was able to reduce the garage size and modify the design to preserve the seamless flow and relative room dimensions from the original design.

One of the standout features of this home is the soaring double height entry void. Opening the front door through the private side entry, you are greeted with an extra wide gallery space. Contradicting the notion that the house may be small inside, this feature creates a grand statement leaving you with an immediate sense of space and height, completely unexpected from the street.

The feature timber screen in the entry gallery acts as a breezeway for thoroughfares such as the garage, laundry and powder room. This detail was cleverly added to create an additional sense of space to the home as was the guest room and ensuite on the ground floor at the front of the home, providing visitors with a private space to relax.

The collaborative process of this residence ensured our clients adore every detail in their new space and we’re proud to have been able to deliver their dream home on their own parcel of land, just as they envisioned.

HIA Eastern Victorian Custom Build Home $750,001 - $1 Million

A beachside location and native landscape inspired our design for this stunning residence in the picturesque town of Somers, Victoria. The owner wanted to strike a balance between making an architectural statement and creating a space that also felt warm and homely.

The final result was a home that presented a strong connection to the outdoors, with poolside vistas from many areas around the house, internal light courts from strategically located voids and the use of contrasting organic materials sitting in perfect harmony with the native coastal landscape.

The imposing entry and double storey foyer make an inspiring first impression with high ceilings magnifying the sense of openness and light, and custom panelling bringing texture and warmth to the space.

A play on the elements of light and dark gave the home a welcome flow from room to room. The wood flooring, which was perfectly colour matched to the stairs to provide an uninterrupted connection between the first and second floors, brought earthiness and warmth to the bold black and grey features, while muted tones introduced a sense of calm and harmony to the brighter areas of the minimalist palette.

An irregular shaped site inspired the direction for this uniquely designed single storey modern residence.

A cleverly zoned floor layout is achieved with the utilisation of a swimming pool as a splice through the house that separates the Master suite wing from the main living areas, creating a visual feature enjoyed from everywhere in the home through expansive glazing sections.

A clever and sophisticated designed layout positions open planned living spaces across the entire rear of the house creating a seamless indoor-outdoor entertaining transition. Large stacker doors open out to a generous alfresco entertaining area whilst filling the interior with natural light. Generous room proportions coupled alongside well balanced internal detailing resulted in a harmonious light filled contemporary residence.

Our West Footscray House, designed and built through our Landmark Custom Design Process, demonstrates how considered architectural design can transform smaller or more complex sites into highly resolved homes, tailored to the clients’ vision and the opportunities of the site.

The striking facade instantly catches the eye with its clean gabled forms and layering of textures, offering a refined introduction to the home’s contemporary character.

Each space was carefully considered, ensuring each area serves a clear purpose and contributes to the home’s overall flow.

Burgundy and terrazzo define the kitchen, while mosaic pink tiles introduce playfulness in the powder room. Hartwell House is a carefully considered family home, shaped around the site and infused with natural light and subtle material layering.

Built on a sloping block, the home was custom designed by our in-house Architect team, responding thoughtfully to the environment and stepping gently down the site to create a composed street presence while fitting harmoniously within its suburban setting. Inside, the home unfolds across a series of split levels, with subtle changes in height defining distinct spaces and moments. Materials are layered in a quiet, restrained way soft neutral palettes and clean, integrated joinery provide a calm backdrop, while dramatic stone punctuates key areas, introducing depth and a sense of luxury.

At the heart of the home, the kitchen and dining area is calm and pared back, articulated through clean lines and thoughtful joinery. A skylight overhead draws daylight into the centre of the home, reinforcing the kitchen’s role as a hub for daily life, while floor to ceiling glazed doors connect seamlessly to the outdoor alfresco, supporting effortless indoor–outdoor living.

Down from the main living areas, the sunken living room forms a natural retreat. Anchored by a feature fireplace with bold stone joinery, the space introduces warmth and intimacy, offering a refined counterpoint to the openness of the surrounding zones.

LUME House is a thoughtfully resolved family home, where considered design shapes every experience. From the street, a composition of architectural handmade brick and rich walnut timber cladding forms a refined, inviting facade. Its clean, linear lines give the home a modern presence, while the interplay of tone and texture, softened by subtle detailing from a sculptural brass door handle to the neutral palette, introduces tactility and warmth.

Inside, the home is defined by light and materiality, with western and northern-facing aspects drawing the afternoon sun through the entry and front rooms. A feature brick wall transcends through exterior to inside, while the formal lounge opens onto a landscaped courtyard, reinforcing the seamless connection between indoors and out.
